Japanese nuclear power plant to get safety upgrade

A Japanese utility company—not TEPCO—has temporarily closed a coastal nuclear power plant 125 miles west of Tokyo, at the request of the Japanese government. There's nothing currently wrong with the plant. But officials are worried about whether it could safely stand up to a tsunami or earthquake. The facility will remain closed, in cold shutdown, until a seawall can be built and other safety measures installed. The shutdown will affect Japanese electricity supplies through the summer, and could mean more rolling blackouts.
