Railgun fires Hugo Awards through steel plates and then 7km further

General Atomics' new railgun uses a high-speed sabot (which looks suspiciously like a Hugo Award) that is fired with such force that it travels for 7km after punching through a steel plate. "We were launching hypersonic bricks at Mach 5, Mach 6″ (via Geekologie)
