Massey miner fired after he spoke to the press about safety

As we ponder the messed-up corporate ethics of BP, let's not forget about Massey Energy. Former miner Ricky Lee Campbell complained to his supervisors about unsafe conditions at two Massey coal mines—including the Upper Big Branch, where an explosion killed 29 miners on April 5. Campbell spoke to the press two days later. Within the month, he was fired. This week, Campbell filed a federal whistle-blower complaint—which a preliminary investigation by the Labor Department has already ruled "not frivolous".
