How to make hot water freeze faster than cold
Aristotle, Francis Bacon and Rene Descartes all thought hot water would freeze faster than cold water. The idea sounds ridiculous, but don't write it off just yet. New research shows that hot water really can freeze faster—sometimes, under very specific conditions. This is a great example of how what we see isn't always the full story.
