Beautiful transparent sea-cucumber from the ocean depths

Have a gander at this magnificent transparent sea cucumber, found in the sunless ocean depths by the Census of Marine Life and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.

Thousands of strange creatures found deep in ocean (Thanks, Brandon!)

Beautiful, interesting picture, but is it one foot long or ten feet long?

Why do I feel like I've just been goatsed?

When looking at pictures like this, I always wonder - are these creatures (who normally live out their entire lives at 2,750 meters below the surface) harmed from the flash of a camera when it happens?

That's an incredibly awesome looking creature. I'm curious if we're looking at it's mouth or it's... other end.

What a beautiful animal. This is why I find it absurd that we spend more money on NASA than on ocean exploration. We want to know if there's life in space but there's definitely life down there! We got excited that there's water on the moon but there's definitely water down there! :D

That's probably the mouth, since there are... things around it. Possibly for collecting food.

Ah yes, the sea cucumber- nature's floating, crawling asshole. These are a beautiful group of echinoderms that spend their days just blissfully eating and pooping, eating and pooping, eating and pooping. Yes, that is the mouth you are looking into, although you shouldn't be offended if faced with its anus, as that is the business end of the animal, and where it breathes out of. As to the effect of a flash, the animal should be relatively unharmed, but it will poop its guts all over you! (like confetti)
Coveted as food, aphrodesiac, and medicine in some Asian countries these creatures are now endangered. Apparently people can't resist a tasteless, chewy object reminiscent of a penis that will poop its guts all over your face if you startle it. I certainly can't, YUM!

Ia! Ia! Cthulhu Fthagn!

Ladies and gentlemen: I give you the Metroid.

ok... this is an incredible picture. this beautiful creature is just another example of God's wonderful creation. 'The Earth is the Lord's, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to Him.' -Psalm 24:1

OMG! Can we have a NSFW tag please? I can see its penis! o_o

They tell us it's a sea cucumber, but I think we all know that we're really looking at a shoggoth.

Word. Sci-fi cool needs to catch up with bio. Crazier dreams down below. :)
