Brett from small-press horror publisher Chizine sez, "ChiZine Publications (CZP) is an independent publisher of weird, surreal, subtle, and disturbing dark literary fiction hand-picked by Brett Alexander Savory and Sandra Kasturi, Bram Stoker Award-winning editors of ChiZine: Treatments of Light and Shade in Words. You've seen us mentioned recently here for books such as Lavie Tidhar & Nir Yaniv's The Tel Aviv Dossier, Robert Boyczuk's Horror Story and Other Horror Stories, David Nickle's Monstrous Affections, and Robert J. Wiersema's The World More Full of Weeping. Now those books, along with our whole catalogue, are available as low-cost DRM-free downloads, the full list of which includes:
- Brent Hayward's Filaria (novel)
- Robert Boyczuk's Horror Story and Other Horror Stories (collection)
- Lavie Tidhar & Nir Yaniv's The Tel Aviv Dossier (novel)
- Daniel A. Rabuzzi's The Choir Boats (novel)
- Robert J. Wiersema's The World More Full of Weeping (novella)

Awesome, they're actually cheaper than paperbacks!
Now all i need is a way to read ebooks that doesn't suck.
Does that look like the Numa Numa kid to anyone else?
I note that they have invented a new version of copyright, in which there is no right of resale (under copyright law, the author has only the right of first sale). Their ebooks may be DRM-free, but they seem to be trying to achieve the same effect with language alone.
Quote from their FAQ:
Q: Can I share or e-mail these downloads to others?
A: The unauthorized reproduction or distribution of copyrighted work is illegal. Criminal copyright infringement, including infringement without monetary gain, is investigated by the FBI and is punishable by up to 5 years in federal prison and a fine of $250,000.
It is illegal to obtain an e-book without purchasing it and once purchased, an e-book may not be transferred from the purchaser’s computer or device reader to another. You can not upload it to a third party or attempt to sell it.
Help support the independent publisher, author and seller of this edition and do not share or accept pirated copies.
Horror Mall, Darkside Digital and its publishers enforce these standards and report any theft to the FBI and local law enforcement agencies. Anyone in violation of copyright or piracy will be pursued and prosecuted.
I am golda to see such a list as this. I'm always looking for a good novel, especially if it is scary.
One I'd like to put forth to the group is Annie'sw Gift by Holden Herbert. Just finished it and liked it a lot. Don't think it is an ebook, but I do know you can find it at Amazon
I've purchased two of the ChiZine titles (both out of interest in them and to support small press ventures into digital publishing), but I have to express some caveats about the Horror Mall site's terms of usage and the manner in which the files are delivered:
* No replacement of purchased downloaded files. From their FAQ: "it is up to each customer to back up their purchases on their own devices or computers. Horror Mall will not replace files due to loss or computer crashes."
If you can log my IP address (for purposes of prosecuting me for copyright violation) and require me to create a user account to purchase from you, you can keep a record of my downloads! This attitude is customer-unfriendly.
* Digital purchases are in one format only and the default is PDF. Yes, conversion isn't too hard, but again, this is customer-unfriendly.
I'll put up with this for a chance to get my hands on small press horror/sci-fi/fantasy more easily in a digital format, but these two things are slightly sore points.
