Do you think the TSA would let you past security with this USB memory stick in the shape of an itsy-bitsy grenade?

More Insight on Those Leaked Climate Change Emails
[Image: "Earth Egg," from the CC-licensed Flickr stream of azrainman] Cory told you earlier this week about the recent hacking at the University of East Anglia's Climate Research Unit, and the subsequent distribution of emails that some people say prove a global conspiracy to promote anthropo... Makers audiobook - DRM free download
The audiobook of my latest novel, Makers has been published by Random House Audio, strictly in DRM-free formats over the net (this means that Apple won't carry it in the iTunes store, even though Audible was willing to carry it without DRM). The reading is by Bernadette Dunne, a very talented a... More.
How Britain's Pirate Finder General is trying to save the Analog Economy at the Digital Economy's expense
My latest Guardian column looks at Peter Mandelson's new "Digital Economy Bill," a sweeping piece of proposed British legislation that would give Mandelson broad powers to act as the Pirate-Finder General, with the implausible aim of reducing UK file-sharing by 70 percent in one year. Mandelson a... More.
Wikipedia's facts-about-facts make the impossible real
My latest Make: column, "Shortcut to Omniscience," talks about the cognitive shift that Wikipedians undergo in order to collaboratively write an encyclopedia, and how that kind of fundamental, subtle change enables networked groups of people to do things that were previously considered impossible. ... Cancer drug may treat diabetes
I've posted before about my brother Mark Pescovitz's fine art photography. In his spare time, Mark is a transplant surgeon and medical research scientist. Today, he and his colleagues published a paper in the New England Journal of Medicine about a new way to slow and possibly even stop the progress... More.

COOLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!! may i take that to the white House? hehe
Probably not. I was prevented (pre 9/11) from taking a glue "gun" on a plane at Midway. It bore more resemblance to a Jetson's ray gun than any pistol I've ever seen.
Not just the TSA. If you bring that thing to work, and someone spots it and calls security, you might be looking for a new job.
Yeah because the TSA is well known for its sense of humor.
Personally, I am waiting for the day when TSA confiscates photographs of handguns.

The LA band Get Busy Committee just put out their album on USB flash drives shaped like little UZIs:

I'd love to see those go through TSA.
I want to buy the Uzi flash drive and this thing, and have my own little flash drive arsenal.
Xeni:
Heh... it almost sounds a little bit like Xeni channeling Glenn Beck...
"I mean, I'm not sayin' you should take this USB grenade flash drive to the airport. I'm just askin' questions."
Hahaha...
Hmm... Does it weigh less than three ounces?
Is it wrong to want a grenade that's shaped like a flash drive? Or a pen! Three clicks to arm it, another three to disarm it!
I wonder if the pin can be pulled.
I am always surprised when the TSA lets me board a jet still wearing the filling in my teeth.
@Joe, I'm glad I don't work where you do. If I brought that into my office everyone would be fighting over it.
In fact... it may be a cool prize to drive motivation.
Given that I've read about them having problems with tshirts that had pictures of guns on them... not a bloody chance.
If someone made that question to a Gallup poll, 95% of the population will probably say "NO WAY!", such is the joke that is the TSA.
The song "Aquarela do Brasil" just started playing in my head.
Brazil... hmmm hmm hmmm hmm!
Well, yes the TSA is stupid - but I'd be willing to place a large bet on the chances of another traveler at an airport absolutely freaking out if they saw someone carrying this.
So the stupid TSA is just keeping the stupid travelers from freaking out.
Awesome, but not the biggest bargain at $39.99
This is awesome! Obviously you can't bring this in an airport or plane, but the concept is cute.
Obviously I'm counter to the herd on this one but why would anyone other than an eight year old boy want one of these? (maybe its all the inner eight year olds?)
I suppose that unless you're thoroughly familiar with authentic, state-of-the-art weapons and have a subscription to "Janes Defence Weekly", you're going to be just a little concerned about someone carrying this.
Sense of whimsy is not age- or sex-limited.
I had one of these explode in my pocket, there were bits everywhere.
My comment is the same as always .. . "If I can take over the cockpit with a , I can take over the cockpit without a ."
this is really cool. :- )
seriously, if someone coulds take over a plane with a plastic grenade, a pair of tweezers or all that other completely harmless stuff we're not allowed to take on board anymore they they deserve the plane
