Happy Little Drop-and-Give-Me-50

What did Bob "Happy Little Trees" Ross do before becoming PBS's resident mellow hippie artist on The Joy of Painting? Would you believe, Air Force master sergeant? Turns out, the Ross we know is really a reaction against 20 years spent being "the guy who makes you scrub the latrine, the guy who makes you make your bed, the guy who screams at you for being late to work."

I am amazed at how fast he could churn out episodes for PBS. He is definitely the man.

He inspired so many bad painters (and quite a few good ones) to pick up a brush that I appreciate what he's done for the art world. All great painters started out as bad painters and the mere act of creation is soothing to the soul.

Pick up that brush, MAGGOT! DO IT NOW!!!

I wanna see some TREES on that canvas, WIMPS!

Jhonson, this you call this a painting? You make me SICK!!!

Oh, wait...

Maggie,
Becoming a MSG is impressive. While he may have been a drill seargent at one point early in his career, lets just say air force drill seargeants are nothing like R Lee Ermey!

I'll need more proof than that. I've met plenty of upper-enlisted Air Force and they tend too be easy going guys.

If he were an ex-Marine master sergeant than I'd probably agree with your analysis.

Do those trees look happy to you, Private?

N-no, sir.

I CAN'T HEAR YOU! Are those trees happy, or sad?

Sir, the trees are sad, sir!

Here's a plug for my favorite parody (fave because it's my hubby's writing and acting):

Anonymous (and anonymous), those quotes indicate MK-B isn't ascribing those hardass traits to Bob Ross, someone else is. In this case it's Bob himself, FTFA:

He later told the Orlando Sentinel, “I was the guy who makes you scrub the latrine, the guy who makes you make your bed, the guy who screams at you for being late to work. The job requires you to be a mean, tough person. And I was fed up with it.”

Thanks, Maggie. I just blissfully wasted my morning watching Bob Ross videos on Youtube. What a sweet man he was.
