The Eyewriter
The folks at Graffiti Research Lab, openFrameworks, The Fat Lab and The Ebeling Group have teamed up to create The EyeWriter, a "low-cost eye-tracking apparatus + custom software that allows graffiti writers and artists with paralysis resulting from Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis to draw using only their eyes." Instructables has a post up. I'd love to witness this in action, up close, with someone who really needs to use it. I am personally familiar with ALS (a family member died of the disease). Any technology that helps people with ALS retain the ability to communicate sounds like a wonderful, wonderful thing to me. (Thanks, Christy Canida!)
