Why hide the easiest to parse, information densest part of a post?
It's also confusing that the behavior of the posts seems to change "after the fold," so new posts look different and are missing a whole level of info that older posts have, even in their smallerized, summary view.
I kept thinking there was something wrong with the feed or maybe a browser compatibility issue or maybe there was something hinky about the way Xeni was posting, but it looks like this is, for some strange reason, on purpose.
And here I thought Dance Dance Revolution was just good cardio exercise...

Jumping up and down and stomping is a bad strategy in DDR, actually. It'll tire your legs out much faster than quick, careful foot placement will.
It's long been known that pain and trauma stimulate bone growth. It's too bad that there won't be any cartilage attached to them when you're done.

I don't think you're meant to jump so hard you cause pain and trauma!
Here in NZ we have a world-leading exercise program for preventing fall in at-risk older adults (aged 80 plus). It was carefully developed by researchers at a medical school here, implemented, and evaluated and was shown to reduce falls by 60% and had benefits of 2:1 to no programme. The exercises all focus on increasing leg strength and balance with things like jumping. Now the stupid government has decided to scrap this program in order to save money from the accident and compensation fund, even though our taxes will have to pay out twice as much down the line in the health system (publicly funded here). How is that for short-term thinking and utter stupidity?!
I have to STRONGLY CAUTION anybody reading this from embarking on a heavy jumping program without talking to a doctor first. Early onset osteoarthritis runs in my family... That's arthritis from impact, where the cartilage wears out and the bones rub together and hurt like heck. Almost everybody has some degree of it as they get older. Jumping up and down a lot is going to damage your cartilage, and you could well end up with serious OA rather early in life. Maybe jumping is good for your bones, but trust me, weak bones and good cartilage is better than strong bones and no cartilage!
Interesting. There are other exercises that also help lessen lower back pains, but I never thought that simple exercises like that could help strengthen the bones. Now I know better. I shall use this tip and help spread the word. Thanks for the tip!

As a devotee of a stompy tree-kicking school of martial arts, I feel validated. There are sever fogies in the style who seem sturdy beyond their years, always wondered what our bone density was like.

Hear, hear. Give all of the stories the same expanded view as the first dozen or so have. Why not? It's the web. You're not fighting for inches on paper for Allah's sake.
