An evening of confusion with Dell customer service
Photo: ndevil I got my Dell Mini10V in the mail yesterday. It's small and red and pretty, but I had one minor issue with my order. When I was personalizing my order online, it asked me if I wanted a 24WHr 3-cell battery or a 56WhHr 6-cell battery; the 6-cell was just $35 more, but had double the lif... More.
Woman accidentally buys wrapping paper covered with swastikas
A woman in Florida bought a bunch of wrapping paper for Christmas at a dollar store and when she brought it home, she noticed that one of the rolls had swastikas on it. The manager of the store said the paper was made in China and he didn't know about the swastikas. Woman discovers swastika... More.
2012 Debunking: The Short-Attention-Span Version
Wow, it's apparently Debunking 2012 Day here on BoingBoing. I honestly had no idea that David had his Mark Dery post in the works. But it does segue nicely into what I had planned. The Information is Beautiful blog put together an infographic that explains--in a short and quick format---what the 2... More.

What can their brains tell us about the neurological basis of sexual pleasure, and can these discoveries help patients who are unable to orgasm at all?"... More.

Prompted by a new GQ article about Ayn Rand (The Bitch is Back with this great illo by John Ritter), our friend Richard Metzger wrote about his relationship with her writing and ideas. Do you think women perhaps evolved this ability to compensate for their lame partners?
i can do that!
The Women Who Stare at Shoes
I'm one of those women.
The day it dawned on me that not everyone can naturally do it hands-free was a very strange one.
(And in case you're wondering, no, they're not as good as the physically-triggered ones.)
Now can these women cause other people to achieve orgasm through mental activity?
If so, PLEASE tell them to stop doing that when I'm in a public place.
(Alternatively, they could drop by and introduce themselves.)
Yeah, I can do that. I used to do it a lot more when I was younger, though and I'm wondering if the more active imaginations teenagers have have anything to do with it. I still can, I just don't - what the other commenter said about manual stimulation being better is true for me as well.
what a mindfuck
Yeah, I used to have the female equivalent of 'wet dreams' -- I'd be suddenly awake, sweating, with fluttering or throbbing sensations. I didn't figure out what it was until a few years later, and I never cared to do it 'on purpose' so I don't know if I could have.
Third the notion of picking the superior method.
And some women can't control it.
I knew a guy who claimed he could do it, too. It seems impossible to me but has Komisaruk encountered any case in men?
Or, if staring at shoes works for women, what's the equivalent for men ? A Ferrari?
This is normal for practitioners of Tantric yoga, including men, including myself. For men, or at least for me, there's no erection and no ejaculation, but it feels like an orgasm. An orgasm that doesn't stop because it's not dependent on events in the groinal region. In my case, it's a side effect and kind of a nuisance when I'm trying to meditate.
I would love to learn how to do this!
