Completely gripping. Achieves a kind of zen perfection.

I love videos from the 80's like this but I'm always left wanting a "where are they now" followup. It would be very interesting to see the journey some of these folks took after winning (or losing) the 1987 Crystal light National Aerobic Championship. Oh, and my fat, near 40 year old ass couldn't do a routine like that without months of training and months of recovery.

What's the name of the song they're playing?

Ah damnit... now I'm singing that Crystal Light jingle.

"I believe in Crystal Light, cuz I believe in me!"

and at the end... Alan Thicke makes an appearance. You can't make this stuff up.

For some reason this makes me think of Tobias Fünke.

And they got April O'Neil to cover it!

the song is that's good by DEVO

@toolbag - check troyproductions.com

I worked at a health club in the 80s, and they used this song for aerobics class there as well. Nothing nearly as impressive as this, though.

you know, i don't usually go for the 80s supercamp stuff, but this video is really totally awesome. thanks for posting.

It seems like coming from San Francisco would be a great advantage for competitive men's aerobics groups.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the next Olympic sport.

Not so much different than So You Think Can Dance, really.

...and I thought the music video for "King of Rock and Roll" was the weirdest thing to come out of the '80s

The Devo song makes it.

Alan Thicke: always the icing, never the cake.

I've got to start recording my facial expressions when I watch these videos.

Am I the only person who really wants them to recreate this performance in front of Simon Cowell?

He's given compliments to worse.

My thoughts exactly... I wonder what that section of society would think of seeing this.

This is basically a Devo video, except they aren't in it, and didn't make it. This video is the dark side of the Eighties.

I want to see the losers! :)

Loving that Devo. Man, the eighties were pretty weird, how did we ever get through it? This makes me want to dig out the leg warmer and do some grape vine.

Wow, this goes fantastically with Drum n Bass. The dancers song is about 160Bpm (although I only watched it on silent while at work - might be 80bpm) and so is most drum n Bass. Hilarious to watch with out of context modern dance music.

That guy on the right: is that you, David?

No. My team came in second. I don't care to discuss it.

Anyone have a link to who won this year?

Man that just totally ruined a good Devo song.

crap...I just "totally". I'm De-evolving now.

The 80s were such an innocent time. Now I can't watch that first bit where they talk about each other without sniggering.

yep, that's 1987 alright.

Awesome. It´s pure 80´s in movement: the soft colours, the aerobics, the wardrobe, Devo, the unintended homoeroticy, the wigs, everything. 1000% 80s!

BEST. DEVO. VIDEO. EVAR.

Also, confidential to igpajo: you're never not de-evolving. Get used to it. Accept it. You just "totally", I accidentally the whole thing.

VICTOR JIMENEZ- The homoeroticity was definitely not unintentional.

Unless they were competing for the highest pulse rate after each segment, how is this not a dance competition?

And now I know what Richard Simmons' dreams look like.

Aw, Man, I wanted to see the Texas team that came on next... ;-)

I miss the 1980s. It's really weird to see 1980s "period" movies come out now; obviously the soundtracks are awesome, but it's weird to see my teenage years portrayed up on the silver screen now.

A fine exsample of calisthenics. I really like the triple push-up.

Never before have admiration and embarassment lived so close in my soul.

Is anyone else being forced to log on to youtube to view the video, and then being told it is "private"?

what is this private BS.. doesn't defeat the purpose of Youtube?

Video no longer visible thanks to playa haters. FUN FAIL.

I wonder if they still show this video off to their friends? "oh man it was just really cold in there."
