This is surely one of the most adorable animal YouTubes in the history of all internets. (via @maggiekb1 via this blog).

Opium dens of 1889 San Francisco in photos
Jeff sends us these 1889 opium den photos, noting, "Unlike some guerrilla photogs of the era who would barge into dens with their new-fangled flash tech, snap a shot, and flee, these shots were taken by someone who had clearly established a connection with the users." YouTube's new 3D showcase
I met with a bunch of YouTube folks in the Bay Area recently, and learned of new features and services they'll be launching. One of those is a new anaglyph 3D channel, where you can find lots of videos, amateur and pro, to view wearing those funny blue-and-red glasses. The blooming rose, above, lo... More.
MTV's Buzz: fantastically forward-thinking TV from 1990
In 1990, MTV aired a groundbreaking TV documentary series called Buzz. Created and directed by Mark Pellington (Mothman Prophecies, Pearl Jam's "Jeremy" video) in partnership with MTV Europe, Buzz was a fantastic experiment in non-linearity and cut-up that drew heavily from -- and presented -- ava... OMG! So cute! I want one!

Uh, nevermind.
Very cute...UNTIL THEY KILL YOU!!!!!
From wikipedia-
Slow lorises can produce a toxin which they mix with their saliva to use as protection against enemies. Mothers will lick this toxin onto their offspring before leaving them to search for food. The toxin is produced by glands on the insides of their elbows. The lorises suck it into their mouths and deliver it when they bite or lick.[6] Loris bites cause a painful swelling, and the toxin has been found to be fatal. Cases of human death have been due to anaphylactic shock.[7] If the toxin does not deter a predator, the slow loris will often drop from the branch to the ground and roll into a protective ball.
Hope it doesn't lick her:

Well, damn. Great minds think alike!
I have heard that the people who traffic in Slow Iorises rip their teeth out so they don't deliver poisonous bites to the people who buy them.
They are quite cute, but I would hope that Boing Boing readers would realize that they belong in their natural habitats, not in someone's living room (I mean the Iorises, not Boing Boing readers).
Owning a slow loris is a terrible idea, and I hate this video because it will no doubt encourage people to want one. They have a high mortality rate in captivity and often have their teeth removed because their bit can cause anaphylactic shock.
Remember, not everything you read in wikipedia is true. We have 3 in our family, and we're all still breathing...
Hmm...

I don't like the idea of these rare creatures being purchased for home entertainment. Cute little bugger though. ;)
I now plan on buying several of the sneaky cute buggers and have extra teeth implanted to give as Xmas presents to various news potentates notably Glen Beck and others of their ilk.
Well, that's depressing: hyper-cute YouTube videos lead to defenseless mammals being poached from their parents and having their teeth ripped out with pliers before spending their lives huddled in terrified balls while Western families use the creatures' fear-inspired docility to create more hyper-cute YouTube videos.
This is how the world ends: not with a bang but wif mah cheezburger.
I think that statement applies to BoingBoingers too...
back in the basement everyone! :p
A wee bit butt-hurt that I didn't get credit for suggesting this link as I did months ago.
Glad that I got to see it again.
Wishing this was used as a Unicorn Chaser... in fact, I think Slow Loris Chaser should supplant Unicorn Chaser.
That lorises have become YouTube sensations is risking their lives in the wild. They are a endangered animal and are being poached for pets and exported to North America (often falsely advertised as bred in captivity). If you think they're cute and adorable, let them live in their *real* habitats and donate to a conservation group.

Cute goes a long way in keeping one off a dinner plate.
"We have 3 in our family, and we're all still breathing..."
Unless your family is dedicated to a comprehensive breeding program involving sharing of specimens for the purpose of maintaining genetic diversity, then you are contributing to the extinction of these animals.
FTW
Peta sucks, these critters are cute, fuck you all, I want one.
These are indeed wonderful creatures. We had one when I was a kid that we'd rescued from a poacher, and it was my favorite pet of all time. The poachers would catch one, go door-to-door selling it, then go report it to the police as having "seen one at house XX". Police would pick it up, poacher would offer to release it back in the wild, repeat until dead. We got ours 'cause the poacher thought it wasn't going to survive.
Apparently my "uncanny valley" is Xeni's "cute."
Which is very good news for bug-eyed fellas with poisonous elbows...

I challenge the premise of this post.
Behold the pika: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVJuRgil0wQ
I laughed out loud when it started talking.
Awww, he sure does like him some armpit scratchings.
If you watch the video on YouTube, the uploader points out that they're endangered, it's illegal to keep them as pets, they bite, and they piss to mark their territory. It's not being offered as a pet store ad.
They don't hold their arms up like that because they like it, it is the first step of their defense mechanism.

So, the exotic version of, "Look, the cat's happy. She's wagging her tail."
omygosh that is so cute!
it's just like the one xeni posted here:
http://www.boingboing.net/2009/06/30/bbvbox-recent-guest-.html
oh wait...
They have been hunted to the brink of extinction to be used in traditional medicine in southeast Asia. There are three species of slow loris and all three are seriously endangered.
Bad boingboing! Bad!
I like this video of Sonya, which features awesome music, gratuitous grubbage, and dashboard web surfing.

Arocklegend,
I was going to suggest the Pika too. I believe they would be impossible to keep as a pet, though. Don't they have to move a lot or die?
As a primatologist, I wish BoingBoing hadn't posted this. Yes, they're adorable, but those cute big eyes are specialized for their natural nocturnal life, not for the harsh light of an owner's living room. For every one slow loris that makes it as a pet, an estimated three to nine die in transit.
Get a dog, people.
eric, that's the same video that xeni here posted 6 months ago.
I get the impression that some people think pets are more like toys than beings. Also, if you want a pet, go to a pound and pick up some poor neglected animal -- don't go trying to import some exotic animal for your own amusement or companionship.
I vote pika.
I would like to know what was the reasoning behind the posting.
Oh wait, I checked the poster.
Never mind.
Let me tell you Slow lorises taste AWESOME!!
With Potatoes and just a hint of Rosemary! MMMMMM
It's not the saliva that makes the loris dangerous -- it's the eyes! they look at you and suddenly you must do whatever they want. The slow loris is clearly set to take over the world. BTW, what's the plural of loris? Lorises? Lorisi? Lori?
lyd, the image on that site is the most tragically cute photo ever.
The things people do!
they have a poison but it cant hurt any human , also the sallers take off their teeth so they cant bite.
Slow loris is under protection and they died fast in home prisons , so don't try buy them. the minus of them , they pee on everything :]
It seems pretty happy to me
