My six-year-old told me she doesn't understand her homework. After studying it for 15 minutes, I *think* I understand what she's supposed to do, but I'd like a second opinion.... More.
A woman in Florida bought a bunch of wrapping paper for Christmas at a dollar store and when she brought it home, she noticed that one of the rolls had swastikas on it. The manager of the store said the paper was made in China and he didn't know about the swastikas. Woman discovers swastika... More.
When I was guesting on BoingBoing last spring, my friends' son Will wanted to know whether cockroaches had a penis. I enjoyed tracking down the surprisingly complicated answer, so I thought I'd keep the theme going now that I'm on full-time. I'm hoping to answer a Science Question from a Toddler onc... More.
Prompted by a new GQ article about Ayn Rand (The Bitch is Back with this great illo by John Ritter), our friend Richard Metzger wrote about his relationship with her writing and ideas. When Great Cthulhu rises, will owning one of these things get me in trouble?
I've been very happy with mine by Stephen Hickman
It's developed quite an evil dust layer over the years.
#1 lolz
That is like middle-aged accountant Cthulhu. I am not driven mad so much as compelled to organize my receipts.
this is some lovecraft magic....
chicab,
Your link can go on your profile page, thanks.
For cool Mythos artifacts, check out the Propnomicon blog.
He has links to quite a few Cthulhu Idols.
I have gotten so many gift ideas from BoingBoing, and here's another one. My beloved is sooo getting a Cthulu for Christmas.
Ha-ha. I came here to ask is just me or does it look like Cthulhu had to go potty?
His Cthulhu idol is probably the closest to HPL's doodled design I've ever seen, and I will most certainly be ordering one soon--but that "Shub-Niggurath" looks like something August Derleth would've invented to masturbate to. The molds for that one flat-out need broken.
Mr. Broers is a wonderful artist who produces some of the finest Mythos sculptures around. The only thing that matches that craftsmanship and detail work is the effort he puts into his paper props.
WOW! AND IF YOU'RE STILL IN THE BUYER'S MOOD:WHY NOT A BUST OF LOVECRAFT HISSELF!!!!

Looks kind of sad and pensive. Even Cthulhu has a bummer day from time to time, I guess.
This statuette is quite lovely and nicely done.
I wonder why including "fictitious documentation" makes the
project (or this particular piece) more real and/or legitimate(?)
I've seen so many pieces of art ruined by artists who
feel they must gild the lily (ie; add "fictitious documentation")
Why not simply create actual documents that describe what it is,
which is a lovely piece of sculpture..."fictitious documents"
sound like something you'd find in a Milton-Bradley board game

Well, it's not Milton Bradley, but it IS a great game.
Cool game, kicks checker's butt out of the park.
It's probably something (more or less) that Lovecraft would have envisioned
himself, had he been involved in the development of role playing games for
restless grown ups.

Cthulhu has a face full of vacuum cleaner hoses!
This Cthulhu sucks.
How is this Cthulhu different from Cthulhu's parakeet? (Hint: it has something to do with diarrhea.)
reminds me of Dr. Zoidberg from Futurama
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_Zoidberg
The drawings are by Lovecraft. He must not have known
anything about Cthulhu.
