Brits: send a message to Mandelson and fight "three strikes"

The Open Rights Group is collecting "Messages to Mandelson" -- that is, photos and brief textual messages to UK Business Secretary Peter Mandelson, who has proposed that you should lose your access to the Internet if anyone in your household is accused (without proof) of violating copyright law. You can upload your photo and message and let Mandelson know how you feel.

How can you monitor a person's email, browsing etc etc, if they've been cut off?

Seem to me, if the UK Govt. wants to watch everything we do, then they need to let us keep our internets

Unfortunately I can't afford to send him to Corfu so it's unlikely he'll listen to my opinion.

I'm not in the UK, but I tried to send to send him a picture of how i feel, problem is my camera just does not seem to get my middle finger in focus... guess I have to get a new mobile phone with a better camera!

Hrm. The third panel has "these proposals will work against the aim of copyright - which is to help creatives earn a living from their work"

No, the purpose is to create an incentive for the creation of new works. It may seem like a quibble but the distinction is important. Once you start thinking of it as welfare for artists you end up with copyrights that last a century, and successful artists that never need lift a finger again. /derail

Worse than George Orwell's prediction of a Big Brother Society.
