Man walks into own funeral

On the Day of the Dead (Dia de Finados) in Brazil, Ademir Jorge Goncalves walked into his own funeral. His family had thought he had died in a car wreck but Goncalves had actually been out drinking. According to CNN, "the sight of... Goncalves alive shocked relatives, some of whom tried to jump out of the windows of the funeral home in southern Brazil."

Why doesn't stuff this awesome happen near me?

maybe you don't drink enough?

I read about this story earlier in the week but somehow the "Dia de los Muertos" angle didn't register with me at the time.

Too bad for the poor bastard whose body was misidentified as Goncalves'. One family's miracle is another's tragedy.

"We thought he was just out drinking...ay Dios mio!"

Hilarius!
Especially since it concerns Latinos, they are the most religious and put the most importance in religion... and thus hell.
I wish there was a recording of the event... atleast sound, because I am sure they must have been some high pitched words uttered before those guys jumped through the windows :D

Tom Sawyer, anyone?

You mean, "Ai meu deus!". We speak portuguese in Brazil, as you can see on that Simpsons episode, "Blame it On Lisa".

There is a comedy movie from Argentina ("Esperando la carroza" - 1985) about the same thing.

Not a day has gone by in the past twenty years when I haven't yearned to be able to walk into a room and see my family members flee my ostensible coffin and dive out of windows.

"I will take my father's place in this coffin!

Maybe this trick will land him the cover of poof magazine.
