World record for grape-o-lantern carving

Thessaly sez, "For those who wish Halloween wasn't over: Caitlin Roper holds the record for making the world's largest collection of jack-o-lantern grapes. She cut the lids of six grapes and hollowed them out before hand-carving faces into each one. They may also possibly be the world's SMALLEST jack-o-lanterns, but this is not verified."

Largest Collection Of Jack-O-Lantern Grapes (Thanks, Thessaly!)

I love carving non-pumpkins for Halloween... but have never gone for grapes. That's next-level. I bet it works best if they're really cold.

Lots more great records on the site (Universal Record Database). I've seen these guys on Jimmy Fallon. Think they could be to be the Guinness Book what Wikipedia is to Britannica.

I once made a jack o'lantern out of a strawberry.

Those grapes are definitely smaller, but I think mine was scarier. Well, to a Lego man or something.

Is it really a jack-o-lantern if it isn't lighted? I'm the world's laziest maker, but a tiny LED and watch battery would probably fit the bill...

I did this back in college at a friend's carving party. I remember that it wasn't as difficult as it seems. She could probably pull off that "world record" collection in less than an hour.

Dang, you beat me to it. I was going to say:

Ob. snark: If it doesn't have a lit candle in it, it's not a jack-o-lantern.

Damn, I did this this Halloween. I even lit them up. Had I known I could have got a BoingBoing link...

Ah well.

If you use green grapes and light them with a red LED they glow more-or-less orange.
