The weather in Los Angeles is so predictable, weather reporter Mark Thompson from our local Fox affiliate can just play sexy rap music and dance the day's forecast. He is one of the many reasons I love living in Los Angeles. Here's one video. Here's another, and here's yet another. He has an awesome, manly-man voiceover voice. But I like him best when he's silent. As one non-LA YouTube commenter said, "I wish my weather channel played songs that said 'bitch please.'" (That'd be this one, at 1:42.) (via @eecue)

Steakhouse!
AHAHAHHAHAH
I'm a Los Angeles resident (South Bay) and I've seen Mark Thompson stand in for Steve Edwards on Good Day LA on that same station (KTTV)... He's excellent!! He's got that fantastic voice, which alone is worth the price of admission. But he's also pretty bright/witty (for TV infotainment) and gently self-effacing with no visible ego lines (on camera, at least - I've never run into him off-camera, so who knows). I love this city and I'm ever grateful for the opportunity I've had to spend a length of time here. I've got a long list of quirky-to-the-point-of-beautiful events/places/personalities experienced in this great/ghastly city, and Mark Thompson is on my list.
And to anyone who has lived in other cities on Earth but not Los Angeles, you haven't seen anything until you've spent some real time here. It's a unique mashup of winsomeness and woefulness, with the right amount of weird thrown in, all coated in egocentric superficiality. It's the Uncity!
People probably don't mind if he gets the weather wrong since he's such a good dancer. Pretty girls and good dancers catch all the breaks.
I always wondered how they did weather in LA. "It's wonderful. Go outside."
In Chicago we have an amazing weatherman, Tom Skilling. He's OBSESSED with weather, giving a level of detail that's really amazing. Since our weather is so unpredictable, he's all about explaining micro-bursts, pressure systems and other meteorological phenomena that can pop up here. It's a feast of nerdy-science on the nightly news.
He's also got a hell sense of humor. Skip to 1:37 in this clip.

Take my word for it, ALL forecasters learn to tap dance.
I love that hes rockin Adidas with that suit!
I work as a closed captioner, doing mostly live news. The weather segments are always challenging to keep with because most weathermen (and weatherladies) try to cram-pack as much stuff as they can into their allotted 3 minutes. I'd caption this guy any time. And I don't say that about just anyone.
This guy has nothing on Santorini....

If you haven't seen the movie L.A. Story, you should - it's a great movie and really gets the essence of L.A. and Southern California, where I live, and it's hardly even an exaggeration.
It's relevant to this story because Steve Martin stars as the "wacky weatherman" and it's obvious there's a tradition of doing this kind of thing here (though I've never watched a weather forecast as long as I've lived here...)
Others may disagree (especially people who've lived here longer - I just got here a year ago) but to me, what Steve Martin has done for Los Angeles with L.A. Story is very much like what Woody Allen does with all of his movies for New York, and the "wacky weathermen" like this guy really says it all.
Reminds me of a different video.
I like his cameo in the unofficial MGMY+T Kids video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIEOZCcaXzE
You gotta looooooooooooove LA!!!!
there's a scene in "LA Story" where Steve Martin (who plays a "wacky weatherman") does a forecast of sunny day after sunny day after sunny day, and concludes his forecast with: "our next weather update will be in a month."
funnier than I just made it sound.
