I'm not sure about this. AMD used to be a strong competitor and in some ways still is, but they really allowed Intel to take over. It's not reasonable to ask Intel to step back and yield part of the market to AMD just because AMD is feeling a bit pinched. Then again, there may well be some shady dealings of which I am unaware.
Read the story carefully and you see that this is actually a New York protection racket (AMD & IBM factories in New York) versus Californian Intel. This is also how New York public attorneys cement their reputation for political climbing, and future campaign contributions.
Not that Intel doesn't do what the EU accuses them of, only that that's not what this case is about.
