Sculptures made out of food packaging

package craft 1.png

According to the SPGRA Design Blog, a Japanese artist named Kazuma Takahashi made these amazing sculptures out of things like cigarette boxes, gum wrappers, and packaged food containers. Oddly, I wasn't able to find any information about the artist on the Japanese or English web, but many of the packaging used are from common Japanese supermarket snacks.

Well. . . Frank Zappa considered cigarettes as "food", but then again look where that got him.

since when are cigarettes food?

You guys just don't understand Japanese culture: Marlboro are a common Japanese supermarket snack targeted at kids. These, not Pocky, are what the kids in Japan call "crack sticks".

All true, I swear.

I wonder if the craftsbeing who made it was born before the Vietnam War ended and whether they appreciated the irony of the object. Feebly green screened and open licensed so feel free to use the pix ;^)

ill lich: Unless you're suggesting a wildly imaginative method of consuming tobacco, it's highly unlikely that Zappa's prostate cancer was related to cigarettes.

Smoking is known to be the primary cause of bladder cancer. I wouldn't rule it out for prostate cancer.

I see you and I think alike, we should get together sometime over drinks and a tub of Crisco.

(kidding, kidding!!)

I wouldn't rule it out for prostate cancer.

That's why I didn't.

i imagine if someone like richard prince had made these that they would be valued at hundreds of thousands of pounds

This reminds me of my wee buildings that I make out of packaging, business cards and scrap card stock.
