Dyson has clearly won the Death Star contract: its latest all-white upright vac looks made to match the battle attire of stormtroopers. Though unable to hit the side of a bus with a blaster, they might finally get a fighting chance against kitty litter spills.... More.
Rachel Maddow, host of all that is worth watching on television, very kindly invited me back to The Rachel Maddow Show tonight for a "Moment of Geek" on the big ICANN news today: starting soon, domain name extensions will be available in non-Latin character sets. Chinese, Greek, Arabic, or any on... More.
Lenore "Free Range Kids" Skenazy has a stirring editorial in defense of Hallowe'en and kids in today's Huffpo:
It's not that I'm cavalier about safety. I'm just a sucker -- so to speak -- for the facts. And the fact is: No child has been poisoned by a stranger's goodies on Halloween, ever, as far ... More.
My daughters and I have been fighting over my iPhone all night because we want to play DodgeDot, a new iPhone game that currently costs 99 cents. My friend and old school bOING bOING contributor Jim Leftwich co-created DodgeDot with his partner Steve Doss. He told me, "When I first thought the game... More.
Weird headsets that read people's minds? It sounds like dystopian science fiction, but these gadgets (helped by a little old-fashioned muscle measurement) are set to be the holiday season's hot toys. The promised future, of mind games that lapse into punishing tension headaches, is finally upon us... More.
And I thought they smelled bad... on the OUTSIDE.
I thought Falcor had died till I saw Luke. Glad Falcor's ok.
Hope the groom cleared that cake with the bride first.
It is a beautiful job, and appropriate for the individual ... and that's part of why there's sometimes a separate groom's cake.
But I do assume the bride extracted a suitably-sized concession elsewhere in the arrangements.
(Not to my taste, as cake or artwork go. But I appreciate the skill that went into it.)
The question is, does it smell bad on the outside?
One word: creepy!
As someone from Taunton the title of this confuses me a bit, is it a typo or was the groom's cake actually in Taunton?
The title is spelled wrong. Its supposed to be "Tauntaun".
Von Haus,
My first thought was to wonder if the bride got a Fall River cake.
Hmmmmmm...

I think I too may read BB too much.
lol that is awesome :)
I think Courtney Clark is incredibly talented, and as we know from shows like Ace of Cakes, and Cake Boss there are a lot of unconventional cakes wanted for Grooms cakes, and even wedding cakes, I am not a star wars fan, but this looks amazing to me!
Great going Courtney Clark you got on BOING BOING!!!
too funny - I actually wanted to read this because my dad lives in Seekonk and wondered what in the world is a Taunton cake (instead of the Tauntaun cake it is) - I imagined a multicolored cake (thinking of the multicolor houses there)
@mdh
That's exactly where my mind went
Yep, that's awesome and I'm jealous. I had Pepe Le Pew and Penelope on my cake. Wish I had thought of this. Did walk down the aisle to Darth Vaders Song though, so that's okay.
When I first saw this headline and image I thought it was a "Montauk Monster" wedding cake... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montauk_Monster
My wife will never have any ammunition to throw at me when it comes at our wedding cake.
it was boringly traditional and delicious.
I can see how some people that get too creative will find years later that the cake issue is brought out during marital strife.
It is awesome that there are people so dumb.
