Australian public broadcaster releases Zombie Walk footage under Creative Commons

Gary sez, "ABC News Online (Australia) is going to release footage (photos, video, audio, text) of Sunday's Brisbane Zombie Walk, under a CC license. Content will feature on ABC Pool, for users to create their own mashups/remixes etc. Not sure if this is an Australian first, but it's pretty rare for MSM to release content like this. ABC Pool is also seeking video/audio/text with a zombie theme, either real or imagined."

Project: The Dead Walk! (Thanks, Gary!)

I always wonder when someone is going to freak out and shoot a bunch of these zombie walkers in the head. I believe it has a good chance of happening one day. And I'll be fascinated by the trial.

Creative Commons Australia tells me it will be an Australian first.

We're hoping to have the bulk of the content available at Pool by Wednesday.

Come on in everyone, the water's lovely (if a little bloody)!

Gary

The Australian Broadcasting Corp is akin to the BBC, and just as awesome. Murdoch's pawns were having a go at it recently, as they were the BBC, for stealing eyes with online content and news - "stick to TV" was their attitude.

Without the ABC, TV news and investigative journalism would be almost dead in Australia (SBS the other notable exception).

Expect to see a lot of CC licensed stuff coming from ABC in the future. It is publicly funded, after all.

Really need to get a bunch of people with nerfguns and flashmob the zombiewalk with a super-secret survivorwalk.

This has to be my most favorite zombie photo ever. I'm really looking forward to the zombie LARP I'm going to this weekend.

There's some CC-licensed footage over at Pool now: http://www.pool.org.au/group/dead_walk Heaps more coming though. More vision, photos, and also audio.

Heaps of audio, video and photos from Brisbane Zombie Walk, now up on Pool: http://www.pool.org.au/group/dead_walk

(Police say up to 5,000 lurched -- if so, it's a new world record!)
