Huge fanged mouth hoodies

The Discovery store has these amazing wild animal hoodies (cobra, raptor, whale, shark) whose sleeves turn into huge fanged mouths when you cross your arms. I wish they didn't just have a boy modelling these -- they are definitely unisex.

Update: The shirts come from Mouthman, and they're modelled by boys and girls on the site! Thanks to the anonymous commenter who alerted us to this!

Anyone have a promo code?

Agreed! Kids clothes always get gendered in ridiculous ways. What's kind of sickening is that there's probably some marketing team that debated making a pink pterodactyl hoodie for girls.

PS - I want one!

They're by a company called Mouth Man (www.mouthman.com). There are more designs at that site, modeled by boys AND girls.

Funny that they look meanest when they're in such a prone position. Hands on your shoulders? Give them a smack in the face and they'd never do it again.

* disclaimer: I'm talking about playing with the kid, not actually beating them.

I think you mean "vulnerable" not "prone" (which means "lying on your stomach")

Did you notice who started this company?
"Mouth Man was Founded by Ross Valory, Original Member and Founder of the rock band Journey."

I think you mean Photoshopped on top of boys and girls, not "modeled" on the Mouthman site. The "models" are too fake looking to be a good judge of what these look like in real life.

omg!! adult size please??

The shirts look cool, but the "models" on the mouthman.com look like real candidates for photoshopdisasters

I have never seen any clothing modeled by a live unisex. I do not think that a unisex model would be very effective in inducing me to buy a particular item of clothing.

Don't blame advertising for gender assignment. Teach your kids to develop their own style. And how to box.

If you use the promo code FACEBOOK they will ship for free! It does not work for orders to Canada though, as I found out.
We ordered the Shark one, can't wait to see my boys face!

"The shirts come from Mouthman, and they're modelled by boys and girls on the site!"

Actually, they're Photoshopped onto girls and boys on the site. At least the Discovery image is an honest photograph.

do they have one of "Rippy The Gator"? :)

Rippy the Gator goes chomp-chomp-chomp!
Rippy the Gator goes chomp-chomp-chomp!
Passing the time by ending children's lives...
Down in the bottom of the swamp-swamp-swamp!

I'm confused by the Journey. (If you go to mouthman.com you'll see...)

Warning! Huge fang-mouthed hoodies may possibly violate elementary school zero-tolerance policy.

If they made these in adult sizes, I'd wear one to work. And I'd bite people. Dinosaurs don't have work appropriate behavior.

i second the motion for adult sizes. the amazing music playing on the site is a tribute to Mouthman's founder, Ross Valory, legendary Journey bassist (see the About section). I have just emailed the support email address at mouthman.com the following:

Dear Ross,

I am both a lover of Journey and a lover of your hoodies. Please, please, please start making them in adult sizes. I will be your first customer!!

Thanks,
Rachael

You can all thank me later when the adult sizes are released.

i tink i saw an invisable dinasaur hed in dat hoody.

Sorry, you know the model is a boy . . . how? I don't see a mustache, or a brow ridge, or a 5 o'clock shadow, or other secondary sex markers.

I see a child with tousled bangs wearing a green jacket. Could be either a boy or a girl, yes? Even if a fuller photo shows jeans and sneaks, don't girls wear jeans and sneaks?

I wish they didn't just have a boy modelling these -- they are definitely unisex.

Funny, the concept reads the same way if you change it to...

I wish they didn't just have a girl modelling these -- they are definitely unisex.

Didn't we just go through the whole "boohoo gender roles are forced upon kids" discussion?

Anyway, neat hoodie.

Just got this back from Mouthman!

Hello Rachael!

Yes we are currently making adult sizes and they will be available on our website in the next 30 days! :)

Come back and visit us and use coupon code "mmadult10" and you will receive 10% Off on first Mouth Man order :)

Who cares who's wearing what? I kinda thought the point of this was the hoodie itself, rather than über-PC deconstruction of who should and shouldn't be modelling a *children's hoodie*. OMG people get hung up on the most ridiculous, least important things. I'm a boy. I plan to get an adult one and wear it of my own volition.

Until Xeni reposts this and links to a picture of a girl wearing one, I'm not buying!

Hey! If you go to the http://www.mouthman.com website and click on the "show us your mouthman" link on the left you can see actual real life kids wearing these!! Apparently they have been the biggest hit at the local CA art festivals and faires all summer!! AND---check out all the other cool designs..there is a tiger (sooo cool!) and really cute frog and puppy and others! Even Simpsons shirts, where the arms crossed together actually form a word or saying.. I have a feeling this is just the beginning for these guys...these shirts are just so clever!! I see high school and college football stadiums full of fans doing the "chomp!" I just ordered two!

holtt---go to the website. There are pics of girls and boys wearing these...click on the "show us your mouthman" link on the left...apparantley these are kids who bought the shirts at art faires and summer festivals...Look how precious they are! The girl pretending to be a shark is just a riot!
i just bought one for my friends 3year old daughter and another for my daughters 8 yr old boy.

Wow, that's some blatant shilling there, Zpogo.

Clearly that photo is sexist because they didn't use a hermaphroditic child as a model. (Or did they...?)

Yes Brainspore, I am so with you. I'm also personally upset that they did not show a mixed race child wearing one. I know generally their lives are all messed up because of their parents, but we can't hold that against them.

Sorry---if shilling is rooting for these guys because I saw them at a faire and was impressed with thier product, then I apologize. I saw them at the Kidsfaire in Pleasanton Ca, but didnt have the money to buy right then. I took a flyer and my hubby FB friended them...saw the link to this blog there.
...didnt mean to be selling anything...my bad! :(

That said...I am sure as the company grows I would hope they will probably use a very diverse cross section of the human population modeling their shirts in their advertising...

Anyone else think these look like straight jackets? I still bought one from my nephew, but still...

Most kids are fascinated by dinosaurs so would like these hoodies.
