A woman who appears to have been inebriated fell onto the tracks in a Boston subway as a train was rushing towards her. People on the platform frantically waved at the train, which stopped in the nick of time.... More.
This is surely one of the most adorable animal YouTubes in the history of all internets. (via @maggiekb1 via this blog).... More.
Yves Béhar (who is in an epic struggle with Marc Newson to claim the title of "sexiest industrial designer alive") designed this vibrator. It looks like a Miyazaki cartoon creature.
The Form 2 takes a two-pronged approach to the vibrator, giving its user what they're calling "Sensation in Stereo.... More.
Michael Jackson's funeral cost one million dollars. His final outfit cost $35,000, and the flowers cost $16,000. Lord. Obviously I'm no MJ anyhow, but when I die, if there's a mil lying around? Feel free to bury me in nekkid dirt and use the rest to feed pie to starving kids.... More.
I like Saddleback Leather company at:
http://www.saddlebackleather.com/
It's a little more finished looking, and for about the same, or a little more. I like a finished, look, though.
My goodness are these beautiful. I know what I'm getting my dad for Christmas.
Also- they have a bad-ass cuff bracelet for a very reasonable price that's worth checking out.
Oh Goodness, stop, you all are making me poor. I have no self-control when it comes to fine leather bags and wallets.
I'm off to bury my paycheck in the yard for safe keeping.
It's beautiful work. I don't mind paying a lot for a thing if there's craftsmanship and high quality materials like you've obviously got here. While I could buy ten ugly-ass roller suitcases for the price, they wouldn't last a fifth as long as what you make. Do want!
Lovely, but its not a Gladstone bag, its a a Kit or Square-mouthed bag
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gladstone_bag
A gladstone hinges at the bottom and opens up forming two separate closed compartments (clothes in one, law books in the other etc)
God, that's gorgeous stuff. As is what you linked, ethicalcannibal. Wish I could afford all of it. Or, well, any of it.
Gorgeous but surely not for traveling. I hate to think of what baggage handlers would do to it, including stealing it outright.
Pretty, but practical? Are those strips of wood along the mouth of the bag opening?
I've got an old J Peterman bag I've literally taken all over the world by train, plane and ocean going ship that I just love. Lots of marks from rough living, but no broken straps, worn leather or anything else that would make it unusable.
They have some awesome steampunk inspired leather bags on etsy:

And for quite a bit less.
I second the Saddleback recomendation. I own two of their bags and two wallets, and am looking for an excuse to get more!
Yes, and the great thing about saddle leather is that you can keep it nice indefinitely just by rubbing it down in almond oil every six months.
Wow, awesome bags. I'm a big fan of Duluth Packs, a 100 year old company out of Minnesota that does some similar handmade work. ( http://duluthpack.com/luggage/luggage-bags/leather-duffels.html )
Very rugged and beautiful luggage.
Don't you know leather cracks and molds, especially with humid weather. I got rid of all my leather horse saddles/tack and replaced with synthetic for a reason. Who hasn't got caught out in the rain, walking somewhere and carrying a bag? No thank you!
