Quickdraw Noir, by Merrill Markoe

German expressionism meets film noir meets Saturday morning cartoon funnies. Quickdraw Noir. "The rare noir episode of Quickdraw McGraw that featured Peter Lorre. With music by Andy Prieboy." Created by the great Merrill Markoe, who is perhaps best known as David Letterman's original head writer -- she won 5 Emmys for the show. She oughta get one for this, IMHO. (Thanks, Susannah Breslin)

boingers, just a heads up, the search does not to appear to work, says *you do not have permission on this server*.

thanks!

When I was a teenager some time ago I wrote Merrill Markoe and asked her for an autographed 8x10. She sent me one. It said, 'Dear Joe. Hi. Merrill Markoe.'

:D

Your first lesson in dry humor is often the most painful one.

@limepies, yah, sorry, thanks -- we are working on it.

Awesome. Just 100% Pure Awesome.

Kind of reminds me of the classic Strindberg and Helium:

I imagine limepies was trying to figger where we'd seen this before: BB re-tweeted it, from Jesse Thorn, last month.

Actually, here's the @BBVBOX round-up, for 9 Sep, where this video was posted before. Worth mentioning, 'cuz it's a fine little grab-bag! Y'all caught some web video fire that day! I say, don't hesitate to keep re-posting from there: I think we all could stand to be reminded of Charo's performance on the MDA Telethon, or the Cab Calloway Snow White number, or the Diesel SFW porn ads...

While I'm visiting the past: for the time being anyway, that post's permalink still pops up under the old "Directory of Wonderful Things" masthead, for those of you who might enjoy weighing the benefits of the new layout in a tab-by-tab comparison.

Ahem... "here's the @BBVBOX round-up..."

Maybe it's just me but why would someone want to go and ruin a perfectly good Quickdraw McGraw cartoon. This kind of thing only works for me when it's something I am not familiar with I suppose. Yes yes M I know. Dangerously clever I suppose. I'm probably just cranky though. I do miss Quickdraw McGraw and classic old cartoons compared to the garbage of the last 30 years or so, hence my crankiness.

First I'd seen it you jaded net.hipsters, you. Brightened my morning.

This new format is really doing a number on my browser at work. Vista & IE, if anyone cares.

Was wondering, the speech that Lorre gives in this mashup, is it from the end of M? Curious about the source...

Wait, no "David Letterman's Head Writer" joke?

Ditto for me!

But I just didn't like it at all. The sound track over whelm the video and was such a downer that I thought I might have forgot to take my meds.

That was great. How on earth did they get a cartoon to match the dialogue? I *really* enjoyed it.

I suspect the translation was faked just to match the cartoon. Still very funny. :)
