Dan Flavin.
'Nuff Said!

That's real purty, Xeni.

And here I was, expecting this article to be about the internet.

Not Flavin, but definitely inspired by him. He would have used simpler fixtures, lined things up a little better and made it more about the lamps creating shapes instead of just vertical lines.

This is still way fun though, not to mention cost effective, we're talking 8' T12 lamps and some color sleeves. Energy use is off the charts though thanks to the inefficient T12, not sure how they snuck this past Title 24, unless they called it signage...

I like how you have to squint through the bright lights to catch a glimpse of the bags in the window, All the while, knowing that it will be the bag you saw on a fashion TV special just the other day, making the eye searing pain totally pointless but yet so totally worth it.

bah

I will say large batches of blinky or shiny lights ARE nice though.. thats why my living room has Christmas tree (and Halloween)lights in it 365 days a year.

Nice for a phone. I hope everyone in SF got to shoot that window. It is one of the best they have had in a while.

Thats a parallel of tubes.

These are nice, but don't you love the constantly color-changing tubes at LAX? The colors are gorgeous, the glass so fine. It's mesmerizing. I should see if it's on youtube somewhere.

Here's a look at those LAX tubes: http://www.ttta.com/

Say what you want about LV, but their window displays on 5th Ave here in NYC always seems to attract a crowd. My favorite one was this: http://individuated.org/archives/www.zzzbot.com/thecages/2008/09/05/louis-vuitton-surveillance-display/

The one here in NYC had one window that had a smashed display case that wasn't showcasing ANY product also surrounded by CCTV cameras.

I distinctly remember trying to grab a photo to send into BB, but never had the chance.
