Yves Béhar's seven-hour vibrator
Yves Béhar (who is in an epic struggle with Marc Newson to claim the title of "sexiest industrial designer alive") designed this vibrator. It looks like a Miyazaki cartoon creature. The Form 2 takes a two-pronged approach to the vibrator, giving its user what they're calling "Sensation in Stereo.... More.
MJ's funeral cost a mil
Michael Jackson's funeral cost one million dollars. His final outfit cost $35,000, and the flowers cost $16,000. Lord. Obviously I'm no MJ anyhow, but when I die, if there's a mil lying around? Feel free to bury me in nekkid dirt and use the rest to feed pie to starving kids.... More.

Is the un-synced audio part of the illusion too?
I worked on a documentary about Jerry a couple of years ago. I followed the last 2 years of his life, and recorded his final performance at the magic castle. Quite and interesting man, I'm glad that I got to meet him.
If you want to see a little more about Jerry, there are a few trailers and clips available here... http://www.skepticalmedia.com/
Looks like the same video except with the audio in sync (and a brief URL overlay near the beginning): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vWkBUTZ3FE
My mind is blown - I love optical illusions. The one with the straight tube through the two brass nuts was especially well done, hadn't seen anything like that before.
My wonderful brain hurts now.
Sayeth Homer:
"Stupid brain!"
I remember seeing this many years ago on PBS! Anyone recall what this segment is from?
I seem to remember this clip from Bill Nye the Science Guy, Mr. Skeleton. Glad to know I'm not the only one who thought he saw it on PBS!
I'm sure this predates Bill Nye. Even if it doesn't, I never watched that show so I know I saw this somewhere else.
Maybe a clip from NOVA?
Jerry Andrus was a genius, and I'm not using that in any sort of hyperbolic way. Check out www.jerryandrus.org for more. Trust me... it's worth it.
Absolutely fascinating. I love this kind of stuff. I also feel like I've seen this before, probably on PBS. I watched a lot of PBS as a kid.
I like the one where he shows us his big nuts.
Jerry was a beautiful man, a die hard atheist and skeptic who nevertheless had a moral compass that would put most of us to shame. I once visited his house (the Castle of Chaos) and he read me a poem he had written about how Jesus must have felt while dying on the cross. His skepticism about religion didn't keep him from empathizing with the suffering of Jesus the man.
His house was a cluttered Maker-style wonderland, filled with odd gadgets and of course ton of optical illusions. Jerry would say things like, "Stand right here!" then he would walk into the next room and hold something up at just the right angle (like the nuts in the video) and bam, my mind was blown! He did this repeatedly; he had dozens of optical illusions he had invented laying about the house.
He also had an exercise bike hooked up to a power system, with a word processor (this was almost 20 years ago) so he could transcribe his poems and other writings while he pedaled. He even had a bunch of homemade extensions on some of the keys so he could reach them more conveniently.
Jerry was an autodidact, an outsider magical artist and a ferociously original thinker. He is definitely missed.
Most atheists I know are very nice people. They don't need a carrot and a stick to behave responsibly.
this is soo f***ed up... (pardon my french, but I am so utterly impressed I can't find any other words more suitable to describe my feelings)
