Handmade old-school leather luggage
Nik Palmer sez, "Me and my son hand make these beautiful old-school suitcases; we work out of Vancouver, BC." As you might expect, these aren't cheap -- the Gladstone shown here goes for CAD550. Media centers: the exciting, the boring; the solved, the unsolved
Kodak asked me to write them a short essay on home media servers for a campaign they're running with Boing Boing. I decided to look at what excites me about media players (what we could build if every senior entertainment exec dropped dead tomorrow) and what seems to be easy and solved (hooking up a... More.

Beautiful
I have one of these and really like it, but it's a very old design. I got mine from my Grandfather about 10 years ago and he orginally bought it sometime in the 60's
neat.. I have one in red plexiglass. not sure how old it is, but it is definitely not new.
That is really neat. What's perhaps neater for me at least, is that something very much like that has been in my parents house for literally decades. I would say it is identical except for the stand, ours is suspended.
I would be more impressed with a Spherical Brass Bass-O-Meter. Can never have too much Steampunk Bass.
Ooh, I own one too - -got it in a vintage store for 25 bucks
I've got a vintage one as well, with a stand (not hanging like another commentor's). Cost me 20 euros in a vintage design store. The store owner says it dates from the 50s.
The design of this spherical brass barometer is beautiful.
