Naoki Kawamoto Yuri Suzuki's Musical Kettle is part of a series of inventions that 're-design soundscape' -- it plays your favorite tune when it boils.
Interestingly, I recently purchased a Chantal tea kettle (http://www.cookswarehouse.com/productcart/pc/Chantal-Classic-Tea-Kettles-45p3830.htm), and it has a contraption on the spout such that instead of a whistle, it sounds like someone is blowing a single rising note on a harmonica when the water boils. Freaks the cats out.
This is collaboration with Yuri Suzuki.
He spoke about it at WeLoveTechnology last year.
He is a nice man.
He also did the excellent Sound Chaser.

This is real steampunk.
can it play "kettle whistle"?
Boo! It's electronic!
And the headline was so enticing. It needs to be entirely steam powered. This was a perfect excuse to put a fly-ball governor on the top of a teapot!
Haha...this is much nicer than the loud screaming noise mine makes!

Hey! The photographer forgot to take all his clothes off before taking the pic!
Probably more likely to knock the kettle of boiling water over yourself too, with that sticking out of it.

Way to use a YouTube logo to link to a .mov file. I'll have to find some other way to watch this. It looks really neat tho'.
