Iran: Canadian-Iranian filmmaker, journalist Maziar Bahari among 100 dissidents on trial

Journalist and filmmaker Maziar Bahari, who holds dual citizenship in Iran and Canada, was among more than 100 reporters, activists, and protesters who appeared in court this past Saturday, August 1, in Tehran, held on undefined crimes against the state. More in this NYT article. Entities campaigning for his release include Index on Censorship, Newsweek, the Committee to Protect Journalists, PEN, and Canadian Journalists for Free Expression. Mr. Bahari has not been allowed to see a lawyer since his arrest in June.
