Here's an a capella version of the Star Wars Cantina music performed by Sixteen Feet -- what an awesome cover!

That made me smile big time. Great way to start the day!

Hey, that's Jove! You go, Jove.

I went to Swat with those guys. Morgan used to call in to our college radio game show version of Botticelli and ask if the person we had in mind was "missing any key limbs." Jove wore a hologram Yoda watch.

Good times.

love the use of Chewbacca and Jabba as rhythmic phrases, that's quite possibly the best thing ever :D

One of the members of that a capella group, Morgan Phillips, later put out an album called "Star Wars Breakbeats", which is exactly what you think it is. Unfortunately it seems to be unavailable at the moment, and his interview on All Things Considered is also unavailable apparently due to copyright issues.

Oh this just made me so happy... and confused my coworkers as I happily bounced along for the duration with headphones on. :)

Fred Bush,

I've got that album! It is indeed sweet.

If only there was some way I could put it online for all to enjoy.

"Chew, bac, chew bacca bacca!"

I like to think they're singing "Chewbacca" at 0:33

Awesome!! I put that track up on Odeo back when we were building the site.

Great times.

Arrangement: Jove Graham.

Note also the following phrase that Jove snuck in there:

"Hey Jabba no batta."

And my contributions:

"Stay on target!"
"Buddha! Oh oh hoho ho!"

Interesting side note: this recording was made in the Boyz II Men studios in Stonecreek, PA.

Fred Bush: The breakbeats guy isn't me, but thanks for the site plug. Breakbeats Morgan (aka "The Sucklord") can be found at suckadelic.com. The easiest way to tell us apart is that I am twice his size and do not own a Boba Fett pimp costume.

As a geek who reads BB every day, I never suspected the way I'd be in a post was from a recording of my a cappella group in 1995. =)

I also participated in this one, with a different set of people: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ka-sHA74N40

I just realized those are both John Williams covers.

I'm starting to believe in Karmic Conservation Laws - yesterday my PerlMonks password (along with zillions of other people's) was hacked too.

Morgan: sorry for the misattribution! I guess I just figured that there couldn't be more than one Morgan Phillips who was remixing Star Wars tunes. I was wrong!

I think they do the Dink Dink thing from SpaceBalls at about 1:30, and is that a Jar Jar yell at the end? I think there are quite a few references hidden in there, I couldn't catch them all.
