Giant linocut type-map of Paris

Marilyn sez, ""Around eight months ago, Mark Webber began work on his latest project, which he is very nearly ready to print. It's a typographic map of Paris. It's in French (naturally) and, being a linocut, Webber has had to carve out every single street and area name he's included, in reverse. Oh and it's 1.8 metres across..."

Man seeks massive printer (Thanks, Marilyn!)

That's amazing. I can't think of a city besides Paris that lends itself to this particular concept. I can't wait to see prints.

Amazing.. He must have some pretty calloused hands by now.. (although that looks like linocut-type linoleum which is a bit thicker and softer than the floor kind)

I've tried to do lettering in a linocut and failed dismally. One slip-up and a whole serif went missing! Now I see that maybe my problem was that I wasn't doing it big enough :)

Jeebus, the guy speaks no French and he has to carve mirror images? Whaaa! And I looked back at the Linomation and remember I almost cried at its beauty when I first saw it.

Now I'm trying to dream up lino-fun. Would a linoleum roller be make-able, to print a continuous pattern or repeating animation?
