Our pal Doug Rushkoff was a guest on the Colbert Report last week. Doug was talking about his new book Life Inc., the story of how corporatism has spread into all aspects of our life. The producers also made a terrific green room comedy sketch with Doug too. I LOL'd.

That was fantastic! Good on you Mr. Rushkoff to have the sense of humor to go along with that. Love the Spongebob head at the end.
"It's funny because it's true!", said Homer.
- sigh - Comedy Central needs to get their shit together - always blocking embeds from playing outside the US. "It's the interwebs, stupid."
Wayne's World?
I don't like how Rushkoff uses the word "corporatism" to mean corporate hegemony of the parliamentary political process. The word he actually wants is "capitalism". This has always been the practical mechanism of liberal electoral democracy. The argument harkens back to an age that never existed. An age in which capitalism functioned without the elites who own the vast majority of wealth controlling the political process. It undermines the search for an alternative that would avoid the problem that inevitably occurs if unbounded accumulation is allowed to occur.
At the same time it uses the word "corporatism" in a way that serves to confuse people concerning political ideologies and political structures. Fascism, feudalism and the guild system are all corporatist but have nothing to do with the modern corporation.
I do, however, largely agree with his analysis.
Loved the actual interview with Colbert.
Was wondering why this skit was so mono-dimensional and unfunny. Got my answer when I saw it was just an ad for those annoying Michaels.
Booooooooo!
What? I thought Colbert and Stewart were on Summer Reruns!
