Chair hand-woven from aluminium

The Uvula chair is hand-woven from strips of alumnium -- sounds like a fun project for the kids on the weekend, providing you've got some decent hand- and eye-protection around:

Scream is a new aluminum chair from Bannavis Andrew Sribyatta of PIE Studio, an eco-friendly furniture design firm. Made with the same method as their prize-winning Steel Tongue chair, the piece is constructed by hand-weaving an aluminum skin over a stainless steel frame. According to PIE, " The inspiration derives from a screaming mouth exposing the Uvula. The Uvula moves down and touches the floor as one sits on the chair."

I think stainless steel and aluminum are dissimilar metals that will react and corrode against one another.

Do they make a version with aluminum for us Americans?

yes they did.

It's aluminium in the title but aluminum in the body of the text.

SInce when is aluminum an "eco-friendly" material?! It takes 13,500 kwh to make one ton; it comes from bauxite mines that are very environmentally damaging; and smelters that emit a lot of pollutants and use massive amounts of energy. It is often touted as "recyclable" (which would be better, since the USA throws out 61 billion cans a year) but how often do "green" designers (and architects) actually use RECYCLED aluminum? It is very hard to source pure recycled aluminum unless you do it yourself.

An all aluminium chair from an "eco-friendly" company? 'cause you know, Aluminium is right up there with sustainably grown wood in the eco-friendly stakes...

For the dissimilar metals to corrode it must be immersed in an electrolytic solution.

Stainless steel and aluminum are fine together. It's when non-stainless steel is in contact with aluminum that galvanic corrosion will occur.

Depends on the stainless. There's more than one kind... what you said is true if a magnet won't stick to it and you keep it away from salt water; otherwise it will rust.
