How the Moon Landings Were Faked on the Surface of the Moon

Jason Torchinsky is a guest blogger on Boing Boing. Jason has a book out now, Ad Nauseam: A Survivor's Guide to American Consumer Culture, that he hopes you'll want to buy. He lives in Los Angeles, where he is a tinkerer and artist, started a webcasting company, and writes for the Onion News Network. He lives with a common-law wife, five animals, too many old cars, and a shed full of crap.

A few years back I did some intense research into this. Lay down a dropcloth, because your mind is about to be blown. jdt_lunarbase.jpg

I have no words for this.

I'd like to see this concept made into a Wes Anderson film.

@El Stinko: Must have been the gov't, because they forgot to take down the archive.org copy. Brilliant!

How about we get the Mythbusters to chime in on this. They did do a whole show on this and concluded the hoax was a hoax.

Yaknow.... if you put this on YouTube I bet you could get lots of believers. I'm just sayin'.

Why didn't you mention the stage we have on Mars?

500 Internal Service Error!!!!!

Consider my mind suitably blown! Man that was some crazy shit. The part where more information might have been available on the error log was awesome. Then that 404 twist at the end? Just no way I could have seen that coming.

I was expecting some stupid pseudoscientific theory... but this was... BRILLIANT!
So that´s how The Matrix was filmed, hummm!

I don't put a lot of trust in the recent LRO photos of the Apollo landing sites.

Obviously, someone must have launched a mission to plant all the "Apollo" landers, the footprints, and the extraneous equipment lying around.

Some say this false evidence may have been planted upwards of 40 years ago, and the facts have been covered up all this time. That's how deep this conspiracy goes.

All you doubters, who have never done anything great and never will, get a real life!

When I was in the Navy in July, 1969 @ Ford Island in Pearl Harbor, I saw the space capsule with scorch marks on it in a hanger.

I can't find the whole show on YouTube but here are a couple of clips.

They pretty much prove that it's impossible for the landing to be a hoax.

#14: No, they pretty much prove that it's impossible for the landing to be a hoax done on Earth.

I don't think any of their evidence holds up if the filming for the faked moon landing was done on the Moon. Clearly, it's easy to recreate the Moon's environment and gravity while on the Moon.

Ah there's nothing better than people that comment without reading links. Thanks Anonymous your input was delightful.

Also, Genius! I loved the Apollo 13 reference.

So the U.S. government went to the moon because they weren't sure they could make it to the moon and "win the race"?!?!

Brilliant!

And they had a 17 year-old (future) actress from Chicago who had yet to go to college...

I never would have thought to ask her is she was Buzz Aldrin - that explains the punch...

If the landing on the moon was a hoax then the leader of the hoax must have been Walt Disney.
