Bill Barker of Schwa: found! Alive, well, creative

200907201332

On Friday I asked if anyone knew where Bill Barker, creator of the stupendous Schwa art project, was.

Today Bill (he goes by William now) emailed me and called my friend and bOING bOING senior editor Gareth Branwyn.

In short, he's doing fine and has a new book and website coming out! Here are the details.

That makes me very happy. Last time I talked to Bill was when he flew out to the Bay Area in 1999 when Gareth visited from DC and we hosted a party at our old loft. (Back then, Gareth rarely traveled.) Bill is so talented and such a nice guy. I can't wait to see his latest art.

Just in case, get some DNA and hair samples from this "William" fellow.

We shouldn't take his word for it that he's not an alien clone, or at the very least that he hasn't spent the last ten years, ahem, elsewhere.

Hi Mark,

First time poster, long time admirer.

I was wondering if you could pass on my email details (as found in my account) to William. I'd like to write an article about him for Fortean Times - if he is amenable, of course. I believe the time is ripe ...

DP1974,

William can now be reached at william@totalmediablackout.com and he is amenable.

I'm working with him on the new project, www.totalmediablackout.com/schwa, and he is currently in promotion mode... so I'm sure he would love to talk.

I am over the moon! I have kept my Schwa swag for years but my tee shirts are finally wearing out.
