Hollow rocking chairs that sound like the ocean

I have no idea if these chairs are real, renders, prototypes or realistic oil paintings, but I like the idea: hollow-tube rockers designed to channel the wind through their bodies and out a set of ear trumpets to recreate the crash of the surf.

Cool in concept but they look brutally uncomfortable to sit in. Couldn't they just have curved versions of those wooden rain sticks, basically, and achieve a similar sound?
Wow, I just love the pipe network, nevermind the sound. I don't think they'd be too uncomfortable -- those pipes are wider than most wooden poles in chairs. They just need to be in the right places (i.e. not digging into your spine).
Now I need to get my hands on a huge mess of pipes and connections...
It depends on how loud these things get when they're "sounding like the ocean". Though it might be worth it to have the neighbours screaming at you to turn down your chair.
Seems to be an easier approach would be to make the rocker's bottom rails function like rainsticks...
Sorry, typo: "Seems to be" should have been "Seems to me".
These rocking chairs are wonderful. The design is great, and what could be more entertaining than rocking on the beach to recreate the crash of the surf? You could always add a pillow to make them more comfortable.
Or you could just listen to a recording of the ocean in a comfortable chair.
Or you could just go to the ocean.
What happened to just holding a conch up to your ear!?
Is it just me, or does persistence of vision make it seem like the chairs are moving together/apart when you scroll up/down with the mousewheel?
"Hollow rocking chairs that sound like the ocean"
I suppose. If you've never actually heard the ocean...
Kinda like crab-flavoured pollock. Sushi, Nan, or Tzatziki from Loblaws. Mayonnaise that you buy in a store. Smoked meat that's boiled in a bag. Bagels NOT from St-Viateur street.
@ #9 - YES, now scroll up&down while this is playing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSdkr2eZ1Is
@#9: it's true, there is some funny POV effect with the angles.
The uprights in the chair, combined with vertical scrolling, are creating a variant of the optical illusion known as the Ferry Boat.
There is another version called the McDonalds, based on the golden arches.
Now boingboing can add The Rocking Chairs.
See them here, about a third of the way down.
wow! i can hear the ocean when i scroll down.... amazing!
Thanx, BoingBoing...
