Cardboard Tube Fighting League comes to NYC, Philly
Ravin sez, "Hello, I'm Ravin Pierre, I'm not an actor but I portray one on the television. I'm co-founder of Cardboard Tube Fighting League out of Seattle. One weekend only, I'm traveling to the east coast (again, Tube Fight - Washington DC 2008) to seed new groups in Philly and NYC. I'm big into DIY and creative costume enthusiasm, as most Boing Boing readers are, I'm hoping they will show up in their best cardboard costume and battle."

So tame and lame in comparison to the original boxwars in the UK in the early 00's. Hardcore, Punk, elaborate box amour and carnage abound if you do a youtube search for 'boxwars. Methinks it originally started in Scotland.

Looks fun and silly. :)
Remember when saying you lived in NYC had a certain cachet?
Now it's "Stuff White People Like" Land.
Gee, almost as much fun as fencing!

Hm. Ninjas!
Boxwars does predate the Cardboard Tube Fighting League but they are very different things. The CTFL is more family friendly and focused on creativity and fun. Also, don't forget the San Francisco event happening on July 19th.
I'm an Ultimate Team Cardboard Fortress Battle fan myself. http://automatedredemption.com/flavorcountry/utcfb.html
Doesn't hold a candle to Toronto's Pillow Fighting League:
