Richard Metzger pointed me to the Don Martin Dictionary. Martin was one of my favorite Mad cartoonists. His sophisticated absurdism was the opposite of Dave Berg's middlebrow sitcom humor (but I liked him, too). The Don Martin Dictionary

I often remember a MAD parody where an L.A. cop asks: "Ma'am, can you describe the perpetrator?"
"Well, he was tall, dark, and, uh, handsome."
"That guy!" says the cop. "We'll pick him up right away."

Depending on when these sound effects appeared, it is possible that they should be credited to Don "Duck" Edwing, who wrote many of Don Martin's later scripts and gags.
I remember being really surprised that there was a Don behind the Don, and subsequently disappointed to see how uninspiring Duck Edwing's drawings were after Don Martin left Mad magazine.

Good old Don Martin. I spent many a childhood hour copying favorite panels from his strips.
someone should catalog Martin's subtle variety of curled wrists and digits upon being struck.

We actually named our eldest son with a Don Martinesque Sound Effect....upon learning that I was unexpectedly expecting, my husband's and my jaws proverbially hit the floor - the sound we imagined they made: Karang! Thus our son's unique middle name punctuates his somewhat more common first and last ones.
