Silly PSA features bear shaving

A girl discovers an overheated bear in the forest. She helps him by shaving his fur in hard-to-reach places. Says Japan Probe: "This commercial is apparently an advertisement showing how Nisshinbo cares about global warming and the environment."

With the keywords: Japan-Girl-Shave-Bear, I think anyone with a few years of internets under their belts would immediately think the worse.

Reminds me of this old commercial featuring a tanuki...

Japan seems to like these fairytale-esque short ads with sweet children's songs.

Yeah, thanks a lot, Mark/Nisshinbo! Aren't you supposed to warn people not to try this at home/zoo? Or at the very least, "Don't substitute Lowland Gorilla for Bear"?
I'll recover okey, I guess, it mostly hurt my pride, and rectum. I think we're married.

Looks more like a commercial advertisement than a PSA (Public Service Announcement).

One cool thing is they used the right music.

I remember singing this song, decades ago in summer camp, on the bus. The lyrics are, indeed: "the other day... I met a bear..."

Anyone else remember?

Is Japan a weird place?

Does a bear shave in the woods?

Not every woman that a bear meets in the woods is going to be friendly...

I was hooked on "She helps him by shaving his fur in hard-to-reach places." I know, it's sad.

FYI, I don't know Japanese, but the tune was "Sippin' Cider through a Straw." [Linky]
Can't say whose idea it was to shave a bear instead of the more typical beaver.

@endymon,

Yeah, I really liked that one, always using the slightly rarer coda,

And so I met / that bear once more
Now he's a rug / on the bathroom floor

Wish I could find and watch the actual video, though. Usually a few extra minutes searching Youtube works, but not this time.us

UstinJay...

No, it ain't just you. And that bear seemed to be doing more of a vanity shave "down there"...

Was he prepping for a scene in a bear porno?

And why isn't she helping him shave using a product from Wilkinson Sword?

No, don't shave the bears!!! Don't you know that a shaved bear can pass as human? Their fur is the only thing keeping them from infiltrating every aspect of our society and taking over. I suspect this commercial was really produced by a secret bear cabal operating out of Japan, intent on cornering the world's honey supply.
