Creamy goodness.

Did he die?

thereifixedit.com - was that formerly n****rrig.com?

(no ban me please - that's a colloquial term that i grew up with and i'm hoping the self-censorship negates any controversy. feel free to delete if it's out of line, but don't ban, i love this place)

n****rrig.com what's that?

If i google it, I see lots of stuff about irrigation.

Looks like a knockoff of FailBlog to me.

Nutbastard: I think "Jury Rig" is the more socially acceptable version of that term. (Not to be confused with "Jerry Rig," a pejorative phrase popular among British troops during WWII).

"Jerry Built" is the pejorative phrase.

If you have more than three things held together by wire ties, you're falling behind.

The collapse is already here - it is just unevenly distributed.

With apologies to Mr. Gibson.

@ Anonymous #8:

I understand the distinction, but "Jerry" is an epithet for "German" so in that sense both "Jerry Rigged" and "Jerry Built" are pejoratives (not to mention "n****rrigged").

Like ACB said, reminds me of failblog...

Which really isn't a blog per se, more like a photo gallery...

i won a t-shirt on funnyordie.com for adding a caption to that pic. "Gimp my ride"

Looks like something from the "Red Green Show". Mmmmmm must be Canadian ( and I mean that with great respect)

I'm really tired of seeing this picture posted everywhere (not just BoingBoing, I love you guys, really) as if it were some yokel fixing his car with a caster instead of a spare wheel. This is NOT a ghetto wheel fix, but actually a training car for rear wheel skids, as seen here: http://www.skidmonster.com/main/ The point of it is that the rear caster can be locked into place and the car will drive normally, but when the instructor unlocks the caster the car will start to slide simulating a loss of rear wheel traction (skid, drift, whatever you want to call it.)

samuraizenu nice guess but can't be red green no duct tape !!! hahha

Yes!!!
It'a a training car!!!
I saw some like this.

THIS is made to simulate driving on ICE!!

Great link, Takuan!

My 2c on the jury-rig argument: Given variance in pronounciation and a few other factors, I always considered jerry/jury-rigged/built to be the same thing. One person told me jerry meant "Jerry's kids" so I tried to emphasise the u even though it seemed an unlikely etymology. (hey I was young)

Leaving aside the comments about whatever-rigging, thereifixedit isn't that good of a name for the site either, as in many cases they're not repairing as much as they're improvising something new.

It does remind me of the time that I was going to get a TV set for my apartment and didn't have a car, and I wanted to save money on delivery charges, so I was set to try to use a cheap, flimsy folding luggage cart and some bungee cords as an improvised bicycle trailer, which almost certainly would have resulted in a ruined brand-new TV. Luckily for me, some guy with a van took pity on me and gave me a ride, TV, bicycle, and all.

Anon15, it most certainly is not a training caster. I know exactly what you're describing, and this isn't it. If you look at it the mechanism is a standard utility cart caster assembly. I believe it was originally posted on the VW Vortex and is from when someone needed to move a car, that was in the middle of being serviced, out of the shop and into the parking lot.

They thought it was funny looking, and they were right.

Never heard of 'Jerry-built'. 'Jury-rigged', on the other hand, is common usage around here.
