Junk steampunk sculptures

Marque sez, "I've just posted a short video documenting some recent interactive and kinetic sculptures. Made using found objects (toys, trash and technology) collected over 20 years, these sculptures are influenced by pop culture visions of a dystopian future/history in which humanity and technology are mashed together - movies like 'City of Lost Children' and 'Brazil,' books like 'Diamond Age' and 'The Difference Engine' and video games like 'Fallout 3' and 'Bioshock.'"

eh... some of it's ok, but really - are we that impressed with someone who put a tv in a rusting bucket? Where's the art? Looks like spot welded junk - this is worse than the people who think steampunk = gears pasted on it.

And the soundtrack blows monkey nuts.

"Junk steampunk sculptures", eh?

It's not inconceivable that Cory agrees with you, SculptedPixel.

Well, I love some of the kinetic sculpture I've seen here, and the lights are nice, but the TV stuff just doesn't do it for me. YMMV.

This stuff has that "shop-class reject" look.
Steampunk should have some flair to it.
And the soundtrack isn't great either.

Would ya'll still be hatin on it if it weren't called steampunk? Just wondering.

I had chance to be in the boston globe steampunk article and turned it down because i could already smell the steam-hate backlash coming.
Still not sure i made the right call, but whats done is done.

I for one am tired of the narrow definition of Steampunk - all shiny and new. I think steampunk objects would look like this... All rusty and patched up. These pieces are incredible, and if you look at the artist website, writing and other work, you can see that he doesn't really emphasize steampunk very much - others do.

How about "SteamJunk" Maybe that is a better name.
