Titan books, the publishers of the terrific Jack Kirby / Joe Simon Golden Age comic book anthology, The Best of Simon and Kirby, kindly gave me permission to run one of the stories in the book, from a delightfully weird comic book called The Strange World of Your Dreams. Wow, that pipe-wielding expert really was whacked. I hope no one took that stuff seriously.

The dream did remind me of Jung's stories of his patients.

The guy providing dream interpretation has a tweed jacket and a pipe, so you know he's on the up-and-up.

He looks a little like Doc Magnus to me... using his analysis of peoples dreams to create personalities for the Metal Men perhaps?

(That would explain a lot.)

Very entertaining comic, but I agree that the pipe-smoking tweedman is a big cop-out. A strict Freudian analysis of this dream would have been much more interesting.

Does anybody know if "Richard Temple" was a fictional character or a real person, or what his supposed qualifications were?

Freudian version: Penis envy.

"Freudian version: Penis envy."

Eh, everyone knows the penis thing doesn't hold water.
