Astronaut tubes for beer
Hey, microbrew-aficionado, fancy an astronaut-tube of beer?
CarboPouch (via Dvice)The CarboPouch development allows craft draft beer brewers to fill on-site, a clean, ready-to- go Single45 or Single25 pouch with spout and cap. Storage and shelf-life requires refrigeration. Low-carbonated water and shelf-stable energy drinks can also be filled. The organoleptic film structure ensures no off flavor. The patented film structure is designed to handle the pouch "stretch" after filling and carbonation expansion. The automatic filling process is such that there is no headspace after filling. The three-side seal pouch has a smooth side comfort grip feature. The combination of these factors makes the CarboPouch a true economical innovation for distribution of craft draft beers to the consumer's home. Sports functions now have a package!

How is this "true economical innovation" more economical than a reusable growler?
Space exploration is finally cool again.
Apparently, the makers of CarboPouch read PVP...

Yes, but does it fit in my cup holder?
@1
That's just about what I was going to say.
@1 This can be shipped across the country much easier/safer/cheaper. I live in florida and can't just pop up to bellingham in washington state for a growler of my favorite Boundary Bay Scotch Ale.
I'm squeezin' a 40.
One small step for man...
...one giant leap for those wishing to sneak beer into various events.
@6 - boundary bay rocks! my favorite northwest brewpub to which i've made many a pilgrimage (great post baker snowboarding cheers). tragic story: i once smashed a 3/4 full growler on the floor. the horror. perhaps if the growler were a plastic pouch, such tragedy might have been avoided. i just despise the inevitable addition of more waste plastic into our biosphere.
They look tiny. There's no way a 'real' beer drinker would go for this idea...unless perhaps they were filled with barleywine.
I've been over their website and it's a classic example of filling copy with BS.
"Lifestyle pouch" ffs.
Yay, beer that'll be much easier to consume on my other end.
*don't knock it 'till you've tried it*
i mean, i love irish vinegar as much as the next guy, but when we've killed 17 astronauts who were stone sober, i think this might be the one time alchohol "isn't" the answer.
The word "single" on the label refers to "single use," which I thought we were trying to get away from. This is incredibly stupid.

I think I've spotted your real problem.
But the real question is: Can they ship a case to Canaveral in time for Julie_Payette's shuttle launch on Wednesday?
Oh great.... more drunks barfing down towards the lower rows and throwing punches. Now I remember why I watch events on TV.

Umm:
FTA: "Storage and shelf-life require refrigeration"
The ale I make does fine (and ages well) in slightly cooled storage - say, 65F-70F. I do not see why Astronaut tubes would be cheaper.
/have to bottle an Indian Pale Ale and a pilsner tonight...
this is a case of life imitating art, as all last week pvponline.com had a stoyline dealing with "beer from a tube'. weird coincidence, or something more?
@#18
You mean India Pale Ale, not Indian Pale Ale, surely.
