Lampshade made from many toothpicks

Daisuke Hiraiwa's "Stamen" lampshade is made from bazillions of toothpicks (12,500 or so). He makes complementary "Petal" lampshades from plastic spoons.

Does a wooden lampshade seem extremely hazardous to anyone else?

Sigh. It's trivially easy to avoid fire hazards in decorative lamps -- either use a 7w "christmas tree light" bulb, or, for you forward-tech people, a compact fluorescent or LED bulb.
