Have you ever considered cloning your dog? I have. Ruby is so cute and sweet, but she probably won't be around a decade from now. Since I don't know how to find her family and she can't have babies, maybe it's the only way possible to keep a part of her near me forever. I contacted RNL Biostar, a ... More.
Fair warning: These jokes are total groaners. Like science-based vaudeville. Frankly, that's what makes them so awesome. I've only had this video since Saturday, and my husband is already sick of me trying to make people laugh at the Schrödinger's Cat joke. But hey, now we all have something to fi... More.
What's scariest about this animated visualization of American jobless rates? The animation doesn't include the figures released just last week, which would make the final frame even darker. They look like the types you'd see at the Mos Eisley cantina.
Those distorted faces are have given me an INSTANT ACID FLASHBACK!!!!!
What's that french show with the caricature puppets?
It made a brief appearance in the mid 80s in the US.
These are really cool, though Ringo looks a bit too much like Sloth from The Goonies for me. Amazing how facial recognition works, making the most grotesque caricatures look more-real-than-real. Too bad there's no Lennon, because (in addition to a million other reasons why he should be around) he had a really interesting face.
What was that old Phil Collins video? Featuring Reagan and Bonzo. And Marilyn Monroe's talking belly button....
#5: "Land of Confusion", that's what these reminded me of too
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My eyes!
Here's an auction for several old Spitting Image puppets, including Ringo Starr

Maybe Lennon is missing because he never had a chance to get old. It certainly reveals the other side of having been fab.
Man,Phikus, I was just meditating on John today, in light of all the gun debates. I was also meditating on the girl from Wesleyan. Shot dead at the bookstore yesterday. The right to bear arms may be a right, but we pay such a heavy price.
Wolfie: Yeah, and John paid the ultimate price for being personable and available to fans. He could not have been included here as it would no longer have been fun. Caricatures are not ok if the subject had a tragedy befall them. It is true that George is no longer with us, but he lived to a pretty ripe age for someone who smoked like a chimney most of his life.
I'm sure if we discuss this more here we'll get a tap on the shoulder from Antinous reminding us not to make this into a 2nd amendment discussion, but suffice to say that I agree.
Ringo looks like a Skekses from The Dark Crystal.
"I wannna hooold your haaaaaaand....hissssssss"
*shudder*
That's mean! In reality Ringo looks the youngest even though he's the eldest.
Lennon should be easy to caricature. George is there so it can't be not wanting to pick on the dead.
TRR: Maybe it has something to do with being assassinated. Do you think?
John's represented by his glasses
"Caricatures are not ok if the subject had a tragedy befall them. "
What?
Cedeida: Let me clarify. It seems in very bad taste imho to do this kind of extreme caricature of someone who means a lot to a lot of people and was murdered in the prime of their life. Your mileage may vary. I'm not the artist, so I have only been providing my own subjective speculation as to why John is missing.
Maybe it is simply that the piece was done to represent the aging Beatles before George died (or perhaps the artist hasn't gotten the news?) In any case, since these abstractions are not the young fab-four that are in the photograph they hold (albeit inclusive of John there), it seems to me that it would completely change the humorous intent if John were present, given the manner of his death and the age at which it occurred.
Sammich: You are correct. I had not noticed that before, so it would seem to be B) -Depicting the aging Beatles prior to George's death.
or shortly afterwards...
George does seem to be keeling over a bit...
Samich and Phikus:
Paul is holding a black-and-white photograph with all four in rougly the same pose as younger-looking caricatures. As Samich noticed, John's glasses seem to represent his place in the outer shot.
(You can see a larger version on the artist's website: /sculptcaric/images/09.jpg )
Are there sculptures of all four of them in the photo?
re the glasses representing john - yoko did it in the year after he died - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Yoko_Ono_Season.jpg
Paul's still the cute one. By far.
Its so weird how these puppets really capture the Beatles, yet it looks nothing like them.
BoingBoing - Offering up the best in nightmare fuel since 2000.
The fact that we can even -vaguely- recognize these three faces speaks volumes about the number of times we've seen them.
Also, I say the pair of glasses sitting on the table constitutes a wonderfully minimalist caricature.

Are you thinking of Les Gignoles?
The cool thing is he can re-use the George figure as Keith Richards if he ever decides to do one of the Stones.
The horror, the horror
