Maker Faire Africa

Details for Maker Faire Africa have been announced. The event takes place this August in Accra, Ghana. I don't know if I'll be able to go myself, but I really want to. Sounds absolutely amazing, and there are great people involved. (thanks, Emeka Okafor)

this is awesome. i was in africa recently and met so many smart, passionate, curious people. I traded a pair of sun glasses and 100 rand for a hand made functioning battery powered brightly painted and USA marked hellocopter. Works great, I have it in my room still, complete with some of the coolest style touches like pokadot seats. haha.

Given that "Maker Faire" appears to be a registered trademark (http://makerfaire.com/) and O'Reilly seems to be unconnected to the MFA I'd be interested to know a little more about why they chose to appropriate the name without apparently any acknowledgement. (Regardless of the legalities or not.)

Or am I missing something?

@Phil - We asked the O'Reilly and Maker Faire teams if we could use their name for this event, because we thought it worked so well. They whole-heartedly agreed, and it is mentioned as such on our "supporters" page.
