From Craft:

Silke Stoddard from the Martha Stewart Crafts Department created this softie based on her son's drawing.
I swipe my kids' art all the time.

That's the most adorable thing I've seen this week! It should be an entire collection.

My sister has an etsy store based on this concept. She takes children's drawings that are mailed to her and turns them into stuffed animals.

Reminds of a MAD Magazine bit where kids' drawings were accurately turned into real toys. The resulting nightmarish 2D toys were great.

Where's the monogrammed H?

Embroidering the initial on the softie would be sweet. To go with the name of course. So cute... If it was mine I'd rub some essential oils in it for the soporific effect. It doesn't have to be for kids.

This reminds of me of that godawful film Spy Kids, where people got turned into children's drawings. Or something.

This idea originally showed up at FAO Schwartz over 5 years ago.

First, I love it.

However, I also think Mom refined the child's sketch a little too much. The doll lacks some of the original's charm. The proportions in the drawing are different, the head area is smaller. The kid's version of the face is wonderful in the way the smiling mouth almost meets the eyes. I would have liked to see a more faithful reproduction!

I'll say it again, though, I love it!

Okay, stuff are piling up on my to do list here. I haven't even finished on my blood puddle pillow yet. This is really awesome. I think kids drawings are true works of art, unadulterated by anything we are exposed to as adults.

I was going to say I have seen an Etsy with photos of a collection already sold... My favorite from that was the mermaid!

I can't wait until my nephews drawings become something I can make for them!! (They are 3... I don't think even they would get it if I tried to replicate one of their scribble drawings)

I blogged about FAO's particularly curious adherence to the children's desgins awhile ago.
