Box of Clouds -- neat work of art

Over at the MAKE blog, Gareth Branwyn writes about this lovely "Box of Clouds" viewer:

Digital artist Kim Laughton made this cloud viewer out of an old keychain photo viewer. The backlight of the LCD screen was removed so you have to hold the box up to the light to see the clouds drifting by inside.

I'm a big fan of clouds. I have a phone full of cloud pics. Would that be Nimbusophilia?

That is beautiful! Funny, I was just chatting w/ someone recently who had a bunch of color LCDs w/o backlights, and was trying to think of a good/creative/fun use for them. This is is truly inspired!

It reminds me of Yoko Ono's Box of Smile, in that it captures the same childlike sense of discovery and delight, not unlike looking through a kaleidoscope for the first time.
