In the "social experiment" to end all "social experiments", a Minnesota father claims he put his computational linguistics Ph.D. to good use by speaking Klingon--and only Klingon--to his baby. Yes, for the first three years of its life, this kid was subjected to in-real-life parental trolling. The s... More.

Barring any major uptick in stupid, this will be the last time I poke the 2012 believers with a stick. I swear. (At least, until January 2013.) Besides, this is a slightly different take than the usual debunking. The Santa Fe Reporter (the paper) sent Santa Fe reporter (the person) Corey Pein into... More.
Tom sends us video of a Maricopa County Sheriff's Deputy named Adam Stoddard stealing a public defender's paperwork, during a court proceeding, in front of the court's security camera. Tom adds, "The local news clip is really worth seeing, if only for the reporter's incredulous lead-in: 'The Marico... More.
noticed this a couple of weeks ago, and it hasn't let me down every day since.
The original site (in french: http://viedemerde.fr) is nice too, and it has a proper API without registration keys :)
I also just found this site. It is surprisingly addicting.
FWIW I strongly recommend NOT following fmylife on Twitter, since most of the posts are >140 chars anyway. You're better off RSSing it.
I was having a bad day. Now, I'm having a GREAT day!
It has the same affect as watching Locked Up Abroad, but doesn't take an hour!
Very nice, a little schadenfreude in the morning always picks me up. ;-)
Like Postsecret, I strongly suspect some of these messages are made up. The tone is too homogeneous.
There's some pretty sweet stand-up material here.
I'm a fan of OneSentence.org which isn't always morose.
It's like hanging out with Richard Lewis.
Far too much high school drama. Seriously.
Sounds to me like the same person wrote each one. Today, I did something stupid/embarrassing or something stupid/embarrassing happened to me, fml. A random word generator (or 100 monkeys) could write this.
When you think about it, a random word generator could write most of the things on the internet counteract pleistocene alacrity.
Reminds me of back when http://www.lowbrow.com/ was good.
We have something similar in german, called @trottelbot ("foolbot"). (Shorty Award nominated, too: http://shortyawards.com/user/Trottelbot )
Highlights are something like:
"Sagt mal, geht das Internet nur bei mir nicht?"
- Tell me, is the internet not working for me only?
"Möchte gern mehr am Flughafen rumhängen, um auch mal von einem Absturz twittern zu können. Aber: woher die Zeit nehmen?" (22.Jan 2009)
- Want to hang out at the airport to twitter a crash, too. But: I don't have time!
"Alles so öde hier :-("
- Everything is so boring :-(
"Langweilt Ihr Euch auch manchmal so? Ich nämlich schon."
- Are you guys bored sometimes, too? Because I am.
"Wie kann man nur Wein trinken, Bier ist doch viel besser."
- How can you drink wine, beer is much better.
"Ist das Wetter bei euch auch so seltsam?"
- Is the weather strange where you are as well?
"Schocke meine Kollegen gerade mit dem neuen Leucht-Kuli! Hihi"
- Shocking my colleagues with a Laser-Biro! Hihi
"Outlook ist ein Arschloch!"
- Outlook is a dick!
"Excel ist ein Arschloch!"
- Excel is a dick!
"Oh, ein Paket von Amazon mit einem Buch über die Kulturgeschichte der Hustenbonbons. Wohl betrunken bestellt."
- Oh, a parcel from amazon with a book on the cultural history of the cough drop. Must have ordered it drunk.
"Schon wieder nicht im Lotto gewonnen. Na ja, hatte den Schein eh nicht weggebracht."
- Didn't win the lottery AGAIN. Well, didn't hand in the ticket anyhow.
Its just an endless stream of stupidity and irrelevance that can serve well to punch you out of any mental lock.
I have yet to figure out whether it really is a 'bot', but it really could be a human live posting the stupid things coming to his head.
Funny thing is that I recently found that trottelbot postings came up in my mind - Sometimes a really stupid thought pops up in your head. Instead of "well, thats a stupid idea", I can now blame it on SOMEBODY.
Haha, I was wondering when an English version of this would show up...I had a lot of fun with the original (French) site, viedemerde.com
These don't ring true to me at all. I'd guess that the vast majority are fiction--many creative, but still fiction. Too bad, since all my favorite blogs (aside from BB) are ones I put in the schadenfreude category (Cake Wrecks, You Suck at Craigslist, passive-agressive notes, It's Lovely! I'll Take it!).
Yeah, when I saw this site the other day, it seemed to me to be done all in the same voice and all a little too clever to be believable. I like OneSentence.org so much more.
That looks like the popular german confession page http://beichthaus.com
I found this site, http://dontyouhateitwhen.tumblr.com
Yeah, not as morose as fmylife and not as fake.
Good website...http://mylifeiscrap.com actually was the unofficial english version until, FML was lunched a couple of month later. Viedemerde.fr is the original website...
this website is supper cooooooooolll
FML is ok but i just don't think it relate to Americans. I for one haven't ever said the words "f*** My life" and their saying "my life sucks but i dont give a F***".. i dont know if its just me,but im not feeling it.
But another site i have found www.Fwhyme.com is a something i can relate to + their saying "it could have happen to anyone but F*** why me" those words right there, ohhh my god i cant tell you how many times i have said those exact words or something VERY close to it.
I think Fmylife.com cleaver, but i think Fwhyme.com is better..
I agree!
after 17yrs of marriage I find out that not only does my husband cheat, infedilaty runs in his family. They also like to keep it in the family.
